Birbal

2019, Kannada, Amazon Prime, 8.1 /10 IMDB, Directed by M.G. Srinivas

An investigative thriller that’s fairly engaging and at times makes you wonder how good the screenplay is. The major drawback being, the endless unwanted punch lines throughout the movie, it puts you off and it doesn’t do justice to the authenticity of a true thriller genre.

The director who plays the lead role MG Srinivas does a good job, but the director side of him outsmarts his acting. The screenpaly is slow paced at times with the repetition of the same incident which tires you. But the investigative angles are refreshing and the last half hour was neatly done.

The female lead Rukmini does a good job with a twist of grey shade. The supportive role played by Sujay Sashtry is irritating for the first couple of scenes but you get used to him and there are some knots that he unravels interestingly. The character does have a closure in the end and you know why he had been a pain initially.

Good watch.
