Kadaram Kondan

2019, Tamil, Amazon Prime, 5.7/10 IMDB, Directed by Rajesh M Selva

A turtle paced action movie lacking the macho quotient inspite of Vikram’s hardship, resulting in a soap opera replication, all fingers pointing towards screenplay, casting and direction.

Thoonga vanam fame Rajesh M Selva in Rajkamal productions with the designer stubbled ‘Indian Robert Downey Jr’, Chiyaan Vikram and pretty faced Akshara and top it with Gibran’s music – expectations were rocketing with the teaser at par with that of Prabhas’s Soho and the story line in the lines of the French flick Point Blank..

The staged feel seems to run through out the movie’s 2 hours of running time whether its a police station backdrop or an accident spot or a couple excpecting a baby or a stunt sequence..

It’s screaming for some momentum and energy and you are dumped with a bunch of celebrity kids, debuant Abi Hassan and fastidious Akshaya Hasan..

Just when the plot unveils and you are getting used to award winning actress Lena investigating the anonymous Vikram’s accident case, you are thrown in to many new faces steering the story away from the main puzzle to some arch rivalry among the police officials and their teams.

And just when Lena on whom you are betting to turn the table, she is killed inaptly and now you expect a turn of events with adrenaline rushing sequences where Vikram would take over, but again not one bit what you expected.

Gibran’s background tries hard to increase the pace but again the turtle is slow and steady.

The police station half hour sequence in the end was a little saved by the full term pregnant Akshara giving a tough to the well build female cop.

The chaos with hundreds of supporting cast moving and rushing in confined space is irksome..

And when ‘after seven years’ caption after climax creeps, you are not intriged to know and rather sulking to watch what more are they going on and on about..

Only good thing about the movie was Vikram and Vikram only but you see very little of him..
