2019, Malayalam, Netflix, 7.4/10 IMDB, Direcgted by Emcy Joseph
The very first scene, makes your heart go all heavy. A person mouthing the lyrics of an old classic film song that’s played on a bus to Ernakulam, and when a person next to him asks a question, we realise the person who was mouthing the lyrics is speech inpaired. Some weird irony strikes in your mind. That’s the strength of the movie, every scene is a story in itself.
Two stories moves parallelly and you keep wondering, what on earth do they have in common. Just when you have no more patience, a simple fun incident makes their paths cross.
The repercussions are just heart aches for one family and the other is ignorant of his wrong doing. When he senses his mistake, there were many instances that he could have mended his mistake, but he keeps failing to do so. The movie, helps you realise the humanity in you. I was happy when my mind voiced out, what I would have done in that situation.
The story telling is calm but very effective. Some intense emotions were done with so much ease, by both Suraj Venjaramoodu and Soubin Shahir. Surabhi Lakshmi who plays the wife character who is also hearing impaired, steals your heart as well when she watches a mega serial on TV. The background music gave so many shades to the entire movie.
When the credits role and you know it’s a true story, you are even more moved. Tried my best not to reveal the core plot of the movie and I did succeed, I guess.
Must watch 👍
